Mt. Hood, Oregon, with all its sharp edges, is still my favorite mountain--probably because
I grew up with Mt. Hood, saw it almost every day, played on its glaciers as a child, and
learned its legends before I learned most of the standard fairy tales.

I loved this shot regardless of the weather--snow, harsh sun, didn't matter--I kept shooting.
For those of you who have guessed at the location, it's in Tennessee, in the
Turtletown corner of the state.

The Oregon coast. Big skies, big waves that day. I was chased
up onto the cliffs by a massive wave carrying a log that just kept coming. It smashed into
the rocks just below my feet as I jumped for a hold, then came back in
three more times to try for me again before finally letting me
make a break for it across the rocks.

What nature delivers to us is never stale.
Because what nature creates has eternity in it.
